Through Abu Dhabi’s Municipal System pavilion at Cityscape, which is currently hosted in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in the capital city Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the Western Region Municipality is showcasing its service projects aimed at promoting sustainability standards and community service in line with the Municipal System’s vision to achieve sustainable development and enhance the quality of life standards in Abu Dhabi emirate.
HE Khalifa Salim Al Mansouri, Acting Director General of the Western Region Municipality, said, “The Municipality assigns top priority to the maintenance of communal houses in all cities of the western region pursuant to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, flanked by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the follow-up of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and the keenness of their highness to provide decent life and convenient accommodation to citizens in the Western Region with a view to ensuring families’ stability, which is considered the mainstay of community safety and stability.
“The public houses maintenance project is designed to provide adequate housing, quality services and a healthy environment for citizens. The project aims to conduct phased maintenance operations to about 3,200 residential units, covering all cities in the Western Region including Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi, Silaa, Delma, Marfa and Liwa,” added Al Mansouri.
“During the first phase of the Communal Houses Maintenance Project, the Western Region Municipality has completed the maintenance of 462 residential units in cities at the region's level, whereas the maintenance of 353 units will be targeted in the second phase of the project,” he continued.
“The service projects also include Liwa townships (Mahadir Liwa) aimed at developing and improving the quality of existing commercial services along the highway leading to the eastern and western townships of Liwa city, where commercial and service complexes will be constructed. The Municipality also plans to construct mini-playgrounds for football, handball and volleyball in Dalma, Marfa and Gayathi to address the needs for such recreational activities and construct sports facilities to serve the needs of community members.
“The Western Region Municipality is planning to construct meat, fish, and fruit & vegetables market in the cities of Ghayathi and Delma along the Central Market Street, including outlets for selling meat, poultry, fruits & vegetables, and fish in addition to a supermarket, food court, and landscaping and infrastructure works. It also plans to construct a mall at Bida Al Mutawaa including a mega commercial building, residential building, maintenance building, and car parks, as well as constructing a road leading to the mall, storm water drainage network, electrical equipment, water supply and sewage network. In addition, the project includes constructing retail outlets along Madinat Zayed - Liwa Street including restaurants, commercial outlets, and other facilities such as car parks, pedestrian walkways, lighting works and drainage system, besides using the solar energy to provide power supply, as well as the irrigation system, landscaping and Electro-Mechanical works.
